FAQs

  • Semi-permanent makeup(PMU) is the process of implanting colour pigment beneath the skin's surface using tiny, sterile, disposable needles to produce the appearance of hair strokes, makeup or enhance the face's natural features.

  • You can save your time in the morning! You are looking for low maintenance, polished appearance, semi-permanent makeup that will enhance your current arches. The benefits of cosmetic tattooing include:

    1.     The look of full and even brows

    2.     Sweat and waterproof

    3.     Camouflages sparse areas for a natural look

    4.     Hides scars

    5.     Semi-permanent, which allows adjusting your brow shape as you age or as beauty trends change.

  • Pre- Appointment

We recommend taking the following precautions before your permanent makeup appointment for the best result.

    Stop using skin thinners.

    Stop taking blood thinners.

Do not consume alcohol, caffeine (48 hours)

Avoid sun/tanning bed exposure for 30 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. If you show up for your appointment with a new tan or a sunburn, you will need to reschedule and forfeit your deposit. As your skin exfoliates from a sunburn, it will take the tattoo pigment within.

Avoid waxing and shaping (2 days before the appointment)

Eyebrow tinting (1 week before the appointment)

And cosmetic Botox and filler (3 weeks in advance)

    Appointment Day:

    Consultation & Design: (30 min)

Please bring any photos that catch your eye. As artists, we will work with you to shape and design your semi-permanent makeup to highlight your natural features. From there, we choose a pigment match based on your skin tone and hair colour.

    Numbing: (30 min)

We want you to be as comfortable as possible. Before the procedure, a topical anesthetic (5% lidocaine ointment)

  • Your results will vary depending on skin type, lifestyle and the immediate and long-term aftercare of your new Permanent Makeup. Once fully healed (after 6 weeks), the colour will reduce by 30 to 50 percent. Patchiness and lightness can be perfected during your second session.

  • A permanent makeup Touch-up is required to achieve your desired results and colour retention. This information acts as a guideline only; we cannot guarantee your result. Touchup within 1-2 months ($100) after the initial appointment is recommended because Pomelo Artists are fully aware of permanent makeup varies the outcome of each client’s skin type and aftercare. Our procedure is reserved and natural even on initial service to work our way up to build the client’s desired eyebrows look.

Once the desired look is achieved, an annual touchup is highly recommended to maintain the fresh, crisp eyebrows to look beautiful.

  • Semi-permanent makeups will not wash off. However, they will fade over time and must be refreshed every 1-2 years. Eyelash enhancement and Lip Blush can last much longer if proper care is taken. The frequency of sessions depends on several factors, including the pigment colour used (lighter colours fade faster), lifestyle (sun exposure), and if any chemical peels come into contact with treated areas. Please note that final results CAN NOT be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. We will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your second session and make necessary changes. Multiple sessions are normal for Semi-permanent makeup procedures, with each new procedure requiring a minimum of 2 visits. Your second session can be booked no sooner than 6 weeks after the initial appointment. Additional sessions will be charged according to our current pricing.

  • We make sure client is comfortable during our service experience. We use a topical numbing ‘5% lidocaine for 20 mins before and during the procedure. Since pain tolerance and sensitivity vary individually, we cannot give you the one answer, but we frequently check up on the client during the service. Based on our clients’ feedback, the pain scale is 2 out of 10. The sensation relates to eyebrow threading, plucking and a light scratching of the skin.

You may experience more sensitivity if the procedure is performed during or near your menstrual cycle and tanned skin.

  • The hair stroke eyebrow technique will NOT work well if you have extremely oily skin. The constant oil production will cause the hair strokes to heal with a diffused, softer look. Your result will look powdery than defined.

    ·       If you have little to no existing hair, tattoos will appear more two-dimensional than those with more natural hair.

    ·       If you’re a smoker, your pigment may fade sooner.

    ·       If you have iron deficiency or are anemic, your pigment may fade sooner, and bleeding and/or bruising may occur during and after the procedure.

  • If you have had your eyebrows previously tattooed by another technician, we are no longer offering cover-up or re-work services. We cannot guarantee results for cases done by another technician. In some situations where the previous work is too dark, dense, discoloured or large, tattoo removal will be highly recommended before you will consider our services. Previously tattooed areas will almost always require additional sessions and will be charged accordingly. Please contact us with any further questions for proper assessment.

  • The majority of our clients’ semi-permanent makeup stays true to colour and lightens naturally over time; however, in some cases, colours may fade to different tones according to the individual’s response to the pigment.

Many factors affect this discolouration, such as lifestyle and iron deficiencies. We will re-analyze how your body has responded to the initial colour at your follow-up appointment. A follow-up touchup is suggested every 1-2 years to keep your colour looking fresh. The result varies for each client.

  • Absolutely! We pride ourselves on having an immaculate and sterile studio space. This means each set up for a new client is safely discarded afterwards.
